Welcome.
I provide therapy services to individuals, couples, and families who are looking for relief, for insight, and for growth and change. My areas of speciality include trauma, depression, anxiety, and relational issues. I may be the right fit for you if you are suffering from the effects of past trauma, if you had a difficult relationship with a parent or caregiver, if your relationships are filled with uncertainty, if you are looking for a more solid sense of identity and meaning in your life. My therapeutic approach is based on an understanding of trauma, attachment, social justice, and client empowerment and grounded in these theories: psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and mindfulness.
In our work together, we will collaborate to assist you in building insight into your emotions, behaviors, symptoms, strengths, and challenging relationship patterns, so that you can learn to understand and ‘diagnose’ your own experiences, identify and implement appropriate coping strategies, and in effect ‘become your own therapist’ by the end of our treatment together. While you may be struggling at the moment, I believe you are the ultimate expert about what you need to heal your current distress. By creating a safe space where you can let your defenses down, I can help you determine what these needs are and make steps toward meeting them.

FAQs
I’ve never participated in therapy before. What can I expect?
We will meet for a 60-minute intake appointment either in-person in my downtown Los Angeles office or via telehealth based on your preference. I will be asking you a lot of questions about your current concerns, your past history which may be contributing to these issues, and assessing for any additional treatment needs that may be important for you to be aware with. If you feel comfortable and confident to move forward with treatment, we will develop some meaningful therapy goals for you and move forward with regular 50-minute sessions.
Can we meet every other week or monthly?
I recommend all new clients start with weekly sessions to help us form a trusting, reliable environment for growth to occur. We can re-evaluate frequency once stability has been established. I do not offer monthly or less frequent sessions unless it is part of an established transition plan.
Do you provide in-person or online counseling?
Both. If you would like to meet in person, my office is located in downtown Los Angeles at 453 S. Spring Street. In-person sessions currently require adherence to relevant recommendations from The Center for Disease Control (CDC).
If you would like to meet via telehealth, I will provide you further instructions before we meet.
Is there anyone you do NOT work with?
I am not currently seeing minors under the age of 12, though I do offer parenting skills/coaching for parents with children in these age groups. I do not conduct child custody evaluations nor do I provide custody recommendations. I do not treat psychotic disorders (ie. schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, etc.) and some other specific diagnoses that are typically better served by a higher level of care. I am licensed in the state of California and am only able to provide services to clients who are physically located in California.
What are your qualifications?
I received my Master of Social Work, Bachelor of Social Work, and Bachelor of African American Studies from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA (#TU). I have over 10 years of experience as a psychotherapist working with adults, children, couples and families. I completed 3200+ supervised clinical hours and obtained my clinical license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in 2016. I am trained and certified in the following evidence-based practices: Individual Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (ICBT), Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Functional Family Therapy (FFT), and Child-parent psychotherapy (CPP).
Can you prescribe me medication?
No, I am not a medical doctor or psychiatric nurse. If you are interested in pursuing psychotropic medication, I can talk with you about your concerns and refer you to a psychiatrist if desired. I work closely with my clients’ providers to ensure they are receiving the best and most relevant care for their needs.
